Familia Mari Mayans

The history of the Pitiusas islands, Ibiza and Formentera, is linked to Familia Marí Mayans through the land, the sun and its roots. For more than 130 years, this family business has been dedicated to the research of aromatic plants and pays tribute to the Ibizan countryside through its distillates, a seal of tradition and quality. With Hierbas Ibicencas and Frígola as its star products, this family business has been able to protect the original flavour of its original recipes from its beginnings, more than 140 years ago, to becoming part of the gastronomic culture of Ibiza and Formentera.

La Frígola, a trademark registered for more than a century by this lineage of Ibizan alchemists, was the first distillate in which Juan Marí Mayans began working in 1880 on the island of Formentera. Its thyme and orange flavour encloses centuries of history linked to the Mediterranean Sea, in the same way as Palo, the “vermouth” of the Ibizans, which is among their best-known products and whose first recipe also appears in the records of Familia Marí Mayans.
