OUR MISSION

Connecting consumers with local farms and KM0 products for the benefit of Ibiza’s soils and landscapes.

About US

Dream global, eat local

Ibiza Produce seeks to connect both residents and visitors to the island’s finest, freshest produce by providing a platform where users can find out what’s on offer and connect with local farmers and producers.

Eat local

“Opting for local produce is about improving your health, but it is also about supporting the island’s farmers, promoting biodiversity and the landscape. We have high quality products, and we want to boost the local economy of our land. We are committed to sustainable agriculture that is beneficial to the local and global environment.”

Jordi Salewski, coordinator of Ibiza Produce

Ibiza Produce is a project launched by the environmental foundation IbizaPreservation in 2018 in order to help regenerate the island’s landscape by boosting demand for locally produced foods so that farmers are able to increase cultivation and diversify their crops.

Having once been an agrarian economy with a diverse topography and a cornucopia of food crops, the island’s shift towards tourism from the 1970s onwards led to a sharp decline in farming activity. Many local plant varieties and animal breeds began to be lost, and with abandoned agricultural land increasingly taken over by pine trees, the risk of forest fires has increased.

Ibiza Produce also works to promote soil health and regenerative agriculture techniques through a community group and regular workshops and farm visits. Reduction of food waste is another key focus of the project.
